PGGP can post grades online. I imagine that you will want to see what grades would look like, if you posted them online.

Here are two sample students:

Traditional grade book: School Wolfskill Elementary, Student 4567 using a Password of WWV&5M

• This sample student goes to Wolfskill Elementary.
• All Subjects contain Traditional Grades only

For Standards-Based mixed with Traditional: School Standards Heights, Student 4567 using a Password of X?ZJL3

• This sample student attends Standards Heights
• Writing has only Standards-Based grades
• Reading is mixed Standards-Based and Traditional Grades
• Life Science has Traditional Only

(Please, please do not change the student's password.) I must confess that as I test PGGP... which I constantly do... I am not very creative in putting in assignments or descriptions of assignments... but you will get the idea.

Now that you have looked at Online Grades, you may have some questions. Perhaps, "How rich is George going to get now!" Well, George will probably continue to drive the Honda Accord or his '37 Ford Pickup. However there will be a charge.

First, you must own PGGP. New customers will get 6 months of web hosting free upon request.

Second, you will have to download a version of 4.5 that will have the upload capability. Of course that upgrade is free.

Third, you must supply a school e-mail address. Other addresses change too often and are often rejected by some mail servers.

Fourth, I will offer a trial time of 45 days for existing users. After that time I will host grades from PGGP uploads for a classroom for $15 a year. I will host a school for $45 per year. Districts will be charged for $0.10 per student per year. (Districts will be given a password for their own maintenance; mainly entering schools and teachers as needed.)

My hosting company, Interland, backs up servers nightly. I have made every effort to streamline this for PGGP customers. Of course, I always stand behind PGGP and all its functions.  So far teachers have been able to set up Online Grades in minutes.

*The volunteer group that developed Online Grades has aimed for it to be run by a school or district on one of their servers (Windows, Mac, or Linux). The software and all needed components are free; your school or district just needs to have an always-on Internet connection, a computer to use as the server, and the technical know-how to set up and run the software on the server.
