Kindergarten Cop was a pretty fair movie. I liked it for three reasons. First, Arnold with squeekers is amusing. Second, he makes the squeekers behave. Third, it rains in the movie. I remember watching it once just to hear the rain.
It has been raining in Colfax. Really raining. Big drops with water in them. Yesterday I went to get a hair cut, in the rain. This may seem like a ordinary task, but I have not paid for a haircut since 1971. I have been cutting the front and sides and Ruth cuts the back. Because these “special times together” sometimes are a little tense I decided to go to a barber for the first time in 40 years. Walt did a good job. He gave me a scissors cut. Afterwards I went to the store for Ruth, sporting my new hair cut. At the Sierra Market I noticed water gushing out of a down spout. But that is not the unusual part. The down spout was above a drain. Water was running down the drain. I was amazed. I almost had to resort to astonishment. I am used to seeing drains not working and crews out pulling the muck out of the drains.
I actually stopped to watch gallons of water disappearing. I decided that drains work because Colfax is very hilly. It probably has to do with water running down hill. So far we have over five inches. The rain gauge is full.
